SCC Meeting 3/15/2006    (01)


Technical    (02)

- Jonathan has integrated keyset support into JAugTerm under Windows 
using an Windows specific Java Joystick package
         - Installed JAugTerm on Doug's machine and ensured that his 
keyset works correctly with it    (03)

         - Need to investigate alternative multiplatform JInput 
package to get MacOS support    (04)

         - Phil is discussing with Allison Akbay the logistics of 
testing interfaces of keysets in CHM collection  to determine how 
they relate to the SRI keysets.  Will provide valuable information 
for CHM and NLS project    (05)


- Jonathan and Phil to get second NLS system installed on Phil's 
machine by end of month    (06)

-  Artifacts
         - Will be picking up Line Process schematics from Ken 
Harenstein this month    (07)

         - Will be contacting Dave Hopper (the author of the DOS 
AugTerm program) to reconfirm willingness to donate Line Processor #1 
and, if agreeable, will pick up this month    (08)

         - Need to duplicate or get material from CD that Jeff 
Rulifson online for use within the project.  Material       has given 
Jonathan.  CD includes source code and materials from early SDS 940 
(c. 1968) version NLS    (09)

- Phil is investigating options for more keysets
         - In active discussion with SRI about helping to fund 
replica keysets/mice to coincide with SRI 60th anniversary;
           plan to submit proposal within a month.    (010)

         - Prototyping USB keyset using Targus USB keypad.    (011)

         - Talking with John Sechrest at AO in Portland about 
building small lot -- John will provide quote in the next week    (012)

         - Plan to order commercial Bellaire wireless chord keyboard 
for evaluation (different layout than Doug's    (013)

         - Trying to locate and catalog as many  chordic keyboard 
"standards" out there, and try relating them technically and 
chronologically to Doug's sceme    (014)

- BT
         - We have a release letter in hand!    (016)

-  Boeing
         - Phil re-established communication with Scott Griffin, 
Boeing CIO, to try and get letter from his office    (017)

- MCI/Verizon
         - Have asked Ken Harrenstein to relay request for direct 
dialog with Vint Cert    (018)

         - Will be making direct contact with Janis Manning, 
Verizon's Assistant General Counsel, Trademarks & Copyrights,
           and Anita Odonovich, an attorney who works in her group.
- Misc.
         - Have sent note to Larry Lessig at Stanford to see if he is 
willing to provide input into orphaned works issue    (019)
