John,    (01)

Here is a PDF scanned copy of the letter from Robert Peterson of
Verizon Business for your archives. Have you received the letter
from SRI yet? If so, I'd appreciate it if you could send me a
scanned copy for my records. If not, please let me know and I'll
follow up with Richard Cramer.    (02)

With your permission, I would like to share this with the nls-legal
email list, with the appropriate caveats.    (03)

I believe that we have gone as far as we can to secure permissions
from interested parties to release all copyrighted NLS/Augment
related material including source code for non-commercial use. We
plan to submit a report to the CHM legal committee within the next
month with our results and recommendation.    (04)

Assuming the committee accepts our recommendations, I would like to
discuss next steps for sharing this accomplishment with a wider
community and making it available. The NSF-funded Hyperscope project
has already asked to reference a number of NLS-related documents
covered by the release on their website as part of their on-going
work to create a modern version of NLS. Let's plan on getting
together in the next week or two on this.    (05)

Best regards,    (06)
